Given the huge choice of repertoire available we understand how hard it can be to choose music for your wedding ceremony. So we have prepared some suggestions and tips to help you…
It is a good idea to take a look at our Wedding Confirmation Form to see what choices you need to make. You can always refer back to this guide to help you.
Choosing Wedding Ceremony Music
Background music as guests arrive – approx 30 mins before ceremony
We will play a selection of suitable pieces from our extensive repertoire as your guests arrive at the venue. You can choose any genre from our repertoire and state it in your ‘wedding confirmation form’.
Entrance of the Bride – 1 song approx 1-2 mins
When choosing your music for the big entrance it’s worth remembering that only part of the piece will actually be heard as you walk up the aisle. However most popular choices for the entrance can be adapted to suit the time taken to walk down the aisle (please note aisles vary from venue to venue, so do let us know how long you would need). Suggestions:
Canon in D – Pachelbel
Hallelujah – Leonard Cohen
Wagner Wedding March – Traditional
Signing of the Register 2-3 songs to last approx 10 mins
This is usually the longest piece of music in the ceremony and often the most personal, with a piece or song that has significant meaning to the bride and groom. The signing can take anything between 5 and 10 minutes so we often play more than one piece. We will keep a close eye on proceedings to ensure we finish in time for the end of the signing. Suggestions:
Chasing Cars – Snow Patrol
What a Wonderful World – Armstrong
One day like this – Elbow
Hallelujah – Leonard Cohen
Salut D’Amour – Elgar
Canon in D – Pachelbel
Exit of the Bride and Groom – 1 song
The music that accompanies you as you walk out of the venue together, passing all your guests. Here the length of the music is not important and can be much longer, since it is nice for the music to continue after you have left and as your guests come out to see you. Suggestions:
Hornpipe (from Water Music) – Handel
All you need is Love – Beatles
Queen of Sheba – Handel
Mendelssohn Wedding March – Traditional
